YOU ARE HOME PROJECT

Feb 7th 2017

"LOVE BEGINS BY TAKING CARE OF THE CLOSEST ONES - THE ONES AT HOME."

- MOTHER TERESA

David and I are so excited to launch #YouAreHomeProject, a host & toast initiative to support local refugees in Clarkston, Georgia, which TIME magazine called "the most diverse square mile in America." Friends of Refugees is a local organization committed to helping refugees get settled in the United States and aids people starting over in America by providing basics like food, furniture, and clothing, teaching newcomers to learn English, and assisting them in applying and interviewing for jobs.

FOR ALL OF FEBRUARY, WE WILL DONATE 30% OF THE PROCEEDS FROM EACH HANDMADE BOX TO SUPPORT LOCAL REFUGEES

To give you a bit of context, we've been feeling the call to take action in light of recent events, and even though we've been calling our senators to plead with them to support those needing refuge, leaving a message on a senator's voicemail box often feels fruitless. Are our voices being heard? Do they even listen to these messages? Are we wasting our time?

We believe exercising our democratic rights and voicing our concerns with our elected representatives is never a waste of time, BUT we also believe we can take action here and now to support the thousands of refugees who are already in our country, which is how the #YouAreHomeProject was born.

We believe that if we can donate even a little bit to help someone else get a jumpstart on their new life in the United States, we can change the way a community experiences their new home. Bottom line, we want refugees across the United States, starting with our community, to feel...

THEY ARE IMPORTANT.

THEY ARE VALUED.

THEY ARE HOME.
